Ongoing Research by E&P GeoField Services

We continue to participate in research projects with our technical colleagues to improve current surface exploration methods and develop new ones. Our main focus this year is to (1) expand data obtainable from shallow soil samples that provides insight into the characteristics and identity of petroleum systems, and (2) Solid Phase MicroExtraction (SPME) techniques for surface geochemical exploration.

The Past 5 Years Completed Geochemical Surveys

The Past 5 Years Completed Geochemical Surveys

Our main geochemical surveys completed in the past 5 years include: Indonesia, Malaysia, Namibia, Nigeria, Oman, Peru offshore, Somaliland, and an undisclosed Mideast survey. Some of these were of frontier basins or under-explored areas; some were to high-grade seismically-defined leads and prospects based on likely hydrocarbon charge; and some were in mature basins to identify new play opportunities or identify by-passed pays. The present COVID-19 pandemic has affected millions of us and all industries. Budget cuts …

Why Use Geochemical Hydrocarbon Detection Surveys?

Hydrocarbon accumulations are dynamic and their seals are imperfect Most productive basins leak Most accumulations leak The majority of oil/gas accumulations have a detectable surface geochemical expression Hydrocarbon seeps can be visible (macroseepage) or only chemically measurable (microseepage) Leakage is dynamic, and predominantly vertical Hydrocarbons can move vertically through hundreds of meters of strata without discernible faults or fractures in relatively short time of months to several years. Direct indicator of hydrocarbons Identify and map …

Customized Short Course – Surface Geochemical Exploration for Oil and Gas

Book your Company Training contact: deet@enp-services.com Surface Geochemical Exploration for Oil and Gas The great majority of oil and gas pools and mature source rocks have recognizable surface geochemical expression. The O&G industry devotes significant time and resources in finding and defining traps, but little or none in establishing the likely presence of hydrocarbon in those traps, especially for older onshore basins. This program will cover surface geochemical and non-seismic detection of oil and gas, …
